Where do I start

If you are considering adoption, you are not alone. Many women find that adoption is the best choice for them and their baby for a variety of reasons. Whether you have a lack of financial resources and support, an abusive relationship with the child’s birthparent, or if you are simply not ready to raise a child, adoption offers you a way to choose a path for your baby that is best for them and for you. At Private Adoption Services, our goal is to make sure that your adoption is exactly what you want it to be.

The adoption process should start around three to four months into your pregnancy. At this point, the child starts to feel “real,” and your body has started to feel the full effects of being pregnant. It’s important to see a doctor as soon as you can so as to better care for your baby’s health as well as your own.

Friends and Family

The people in your life may have different reactions to adoption, some good, some bad. Sometimes it can be helpful to talk to your family and friends about your decision early on. This is not always the case. No matter what, our staff is trained to support you throughout the process and follow a birth plan that YOU have chosen

The process

Once you have decided that adoption is right for you, contact our offices. With almost 30 years of experience, our agency will be able to answer any and all questions you may have about the process. We would love to meet with you in person and get to know you.
There are many couples out there waiting to bring a new baby into their lives. You will have the power to choose which couple or individual you would like to adopt your child and will be given several profiles to choose from. After you have chosen your child’s adoptive parents, our agency will arrange a meeting according to your preferences. You will have the option of choosing an open or closed adoption, or something in between. We are most concerned with what feels right for you.
If adoption sounds like a path you would like to take, please call or email us to set up an appointment. Carolyn McKenna, our Executive Director, is available to meet with you at a location most comfortable to you to discuss a plan for you and your baby.
